What are PD chargers?

PD stands for Power Delivery. This Power Delivery Technology or PD Technology helps devices to take on more power in a shorter duration. In layman’s language, it means superfast charging. PD Technology renders an increment in the supply of the amount of power delivered to your device in a specific duration of time. This saves you time. You won’t have to spend a lot of time waiting for your phone to get charged. Power Delivery is the universal USB charging standard, but not all devices support it equally.

Since 2017, with the launch of the iPhone 8, Apple doesn’t give chargers along with the iPhones. But, the iPhones are enabled with PD technology. All iPhone models have supported the USB PD fast charging since iPhone 8. Other phones are also enabled with PD Technology like Galaxy devices and some Android phones.

The best benefit of PD chargers is to increase the charging capacity to 4X faster. This is superfast charging in comparison to other normal chargers.

Is a Fast-Charging PD Charger Safe?

When charging, each device is in control of requesting and managing the power it receives. The device is enabled with technology that knows how much power it needs to be efficient. Even with more power, the device doesn’t overcharge itself as each individual device has the capability to regulate the overall input to stay safe.
